Sheffield Pike and Glenridding Dodd

Sheffield Pike looking over Ullswater.  The boundary stone can be seen on the left with the M on it

We were on training in Penrith on Friday so planned to hit up Gowbarrow on the way home.  My planned route was to park at the Glencoyne NT car park, go up and around Glencoyne Head, over Watermillock Common and then pick up the usual Gowbarrow track.  There was a fair bit of snow and ice over Glencoyne Head so we doubled back over Sheffield Pike and then on to Glenridding Dodd.  We found a track down through the woods and spotted a couple of deer on they way.  A lovely evening, always nice to get out after work and, typing this on Saturday morning as it is pouring with rain outside, glad to have a few Wainwrights in already this weekend.
